Irish Home Opener Against Bethel Cancelled

March 15, 2015

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Due to a contractual agreement that came into play due to surprisingly outstanding weather through its first 18 games, the University of Notre Dame baseball team’s scheduled home opener against Bethel College set for Tuesday, March 17 has been cancelled.

The scheduled game against Bethel gave Notre Dame 57 regular season games when the NCAA allows for only 56. The contract signed by both teams stated that if the Irish had at least one game cancelled due to weather prior to March 17, then the two teams would play at Frank Eck Stadium. However, if the Irish played all 18 games, then the game would be cancelled to avoid putting Notre Dame over the NCAA limit.

Notre Dame (13-4, 2-3 ACC) will now open its home slate against Central Michigan at 6:05 p.m. (ET) Wednesday. Tickets are on sale at UND.com/tickets or by calling the Murnane Family Ticket Office at 574-631-7356.

Fans that can’t make the game can watch for free online through WatchND or listen to WHME 103.1 FM in South Bend.
