Irish Hold Penultimate Culver Practice

Aug. 6, 2018

CULVER, Indiana — The 11th-ranked Notre Dame football team held practice number four on Monday morning at Culver Academies. The Irish took to Oliver Field on a muggy, overcast morning to run through another 24-period practice.

Temperatures cooled off from the previous two days, but only into the high 80s and the humidity was dialed up along Lake Maxinkuckee. Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Brian Kelly continues to be pleased with the effort, but has placed a point of emphasis on consistently keeping the energy up during practice.

The energy should go up on Tuesday in practice five, when the Irish take the field in full pads. As Kelly told Fighting Irish Media’s Jack Nolan today, it’s especially good for the Irish running backs to start embracing contact and on the defensive side of the ball, it finally gives players a chance to put into action the techniques they’ve been drilling thus far.

Monday will see the team venture off campus for the first time since arriving at Culver Academies, as the Irish hold team dinner at a local restaurant. Tomorrow’s practice number five is set for the morning and the team will head back up U.S. 31 towards South Bend in the afternoon to continue training on campus for the duration of camp.

  • Miles Boykin (offense), Troy Pride Jr. (defense) and Jafar Armstrong (special teams) were the honorees for practice number three.
