Irish Hockey To Make 11 Television Appearances During 2011-12 Season

Notre Dame, Ind. – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its 43-game television schedule for the 2011-12 season and Notre Dame is scheduled to appear 11 times with six games carried by Comcast Television and five on the CBS Sports Network. Versus, which will become NBC Sports Network in January, has not yet announced its college hockey schedule.

Notre Dame will appear on television five times before the Christmas break and six times in the second half of the season according to the schedule released today. The schedule opens on Sat., Oct. 15 with Comcast Television carrying the Irish game against Ohio State at 7:05 p.m.

Also in October, the schedule includes a game at Bowling Green (Oct. 28) on Comcast, with three games in November, two in January and four in the month of February.

The November schedule includes back-to-back Tuesday night games on Nov. 15 and 22 versus Western Michigan on Comcast. The game on the 15th versus the Broncos will be the first televised game from the new Compton Family Ice Arena. The game on Nov. 22 will come from Lawson Arena in Kalamazoo, Mich. In between those two games, the CBS Sports Network will televise the Nov. 18 “Dedication Game,” for the Compton Family Ice Arena against Boston College at 7:35 p.m.

CBS Sports Network will carry both Irish hockey games in January – the Jan. 15 game at home against Western Michigan and the Jan. 21 game against Michigan with both face offs set for 7:35 p.m.

Four television games – two on Comcast and two on CBS Sports Network – close out the month of February. On Feb. 11, Comcast will televise the Notre Dame home game against Ferris State at 7:05 p.m. CBS will carry the Feb. 17 contest at Miami and the Feb. 24 game at home against Michigan State. That game has an 8:35 p.m. start time as part of a college hockey doubleheader as CBS Sports will have a game at 6:05 p.m. when Ohio State travels to Miami. Comcast then closes the season with the regular-season finale on Feb. 25 at 7:35 p.m. versus the Spartans.

During the 2011-12 season, CCHA games will be carried live on Comcast Television, by CBS Sports Network, via Fox Sports Detroit and on the BIG 10 Network.

In all, CBS Sports Network has an eight-game package scheduled while Comcast will carry 15 games, including a CCHA second-round playoff contest. Fox Sports Detroit has 12 games on the regular-season docket, one first round playoff contest and then the CCHA semifinals and finals from Joe Louis Arena. The Big Ten Network has a four-game schedule planned for this season.

Viewers should check their local cable or satellite systems for channels and locations of each telecast throughout the year.
