Irish Hockey To Make 11 Television Appearances During 2009-10 Season.

Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team will appear on television 11 times during the 2009-10 season with five telecasts scheduled for Comcast, three national appearances on CBS College Sports and one appearance each on Fox Sports Detroit, ESPNU and the Big 10 Network.

The Irish will appear on television six times prior to the Christmas break and then five times in the second half of the season. The schedule opens on Tuesday, Oct. 20 with a national telecast on ESPNU as Notre Dame visits national champion Boston University for a 7:00 p.m. game at Agganis Arena in Boston, Mass.

After that five consecutive games will appear on Comcast that offers the games on Comcast’s digital tier, Channel 900, to about 800,000 customers in the state of Michigan. Comcast games include the Nov. 19 tilt at Michigan State, two games at Miami (Dec. 4-5) and then both games of the home-and-away series with Michigan (Dec. 11 and Dec. 13).

The second half of the season is highlighted by three consecutive national appearances on CBS College Sports, starting with the Jan. 15 home game versus Michigan State with faceoff set for 8:05 p.m. Two weeks later, on Jan. 29-30, both games of Notre Dame’s home series with Nebraska-Omaha will be televised by CBS College Sports with both start times set for 8:05 p.m.

The Irish then close out the regular season with a pair of televised games versus Michigan. On Thur., Feb. 25, Notre Dame’s game at Yost Arena will be televised via Fox Sports Detroit at 7:35 p.m. Two nights later in South Bend, Sat., Feb. 27 the two teams close out the regular season with a 7:05 p.m. game that will be shown on the Big 10 Network.

Comcast and Fox Sports Detroit will cover games in the first two rounds of the CCHA playoffs and the CCHA Tournament at Joe Louis Arena will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit (first semifinal and title game) while the Big 10 Network will have the second semifinal game on March 19.

In all college hockey fans will have the chance to catch over 50 CCHA games during the 2009-10 regular season and postseason. Games can be seen live on FSN-Detroit, CBS College Sports, Comcast, ESPNU and the Big 10 Network during the season. Check out the CCHA website at ccha.com for a complete schedule.
