Irish Hockey To Hold Second Annual Drop The Puck Dinner On October 11

Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame hockey team will host its second annual “Drop The Puck” season-opening dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 11, beginnning at 6:30 p.m. at the Joyce Center’s Heritage Hall. The event is free to all Notre Dame hockey season ticket holders. Dinner will be provided by Famous Daves.

This year’s special guest speaker is current Chicago Blackhawks, NBC and Versus Network television analyst Ed Olczyk. The Chicago, Ill., native and member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic team is a 16-year veteran of the National Hockey League and served as coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins for two seasons (2003-05).

During his 16 seasons in the NHL, Olczyk saw action with Chicago, Toronto, Winnipeg, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers, playing in 1,031 games with 342 goals and 452 assists for 794 career points.

Irish hockey fans will get a chance to meet and mingle with the 2006-07 Notre Dame hockey team, head coach Jeff Jackson and his staff as the Irish get set to open the new season the following night, Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7:35 p.m. against the Minnesota State Mavericks at the Joyce Center.
