Irish Hockey To Appear On Television 11 Times During 2004-05 Campaign

Notre Dame, Ind. – The Notre Dame hockey team goes into the 2004-05 season looking to duplicate their success of last season on the ice. Fans of Irish hockey will have a chance to see the icers in action on television 11 times on the year; the most that Notre Dame hockey has ever been televised.

The Irish go into the season scheduled to appear on Comcast-Detroit a total of six times, College Sports Television (CSTV) three times and Fox Sports Net Detroit twice during the year.

Last season, when the Irish were going 20-15-4 on the year and advancing to the NCAA tournament for the first time ever, they appeared on TV a total of nine times and were 6-2-1 in those games. The totals included four CSTV games, two games on Wisconsin television, one game on WHME in South Bend and one Fox Sports Net Detroit game.

Notre Dame’s first televised game comes on Friday, Oct. 22 when the Irish play host to the preseason’s top-ranked Boston College Eagles at 7:35 p.m. That game will be televised by Comcast-Detroit.

One November game is scheduled for television with Comcast-Detroit televising the November 12 game at Western Michigan in a 7:35 p.m. game from Kalamazoo, Mich.

All four Irish games in December will be televised. On Friday, Dec. 3, Notre Dame’s game at Michigan will appear on Fox Sports Net Detroit at 7:35 p.m. Game two of the Michigan series on Sat., Dec. 4 at the Joyce Center will be televised by Comcast-Detroit beginning at 7:05 p.m. The following week, both games of the Michigan State series will be televised. The Friday, Dec. 10 game at the Joyce Center will start at 8:05 p.m. and will be CSTV’s national game of the week. The following night at East Lansing, Comcast-Detroit will air the game beginning at 7:05 p.m.

In January, Notre Dame hockey fans can see the Friday, Jan. 21 game versus Wisconsin live from the Joyce Center as the Irish and Badgers face-off on CSTV’s national game of the week at 8:05 p.m.

The February schedule has the Irish appearing three times. The Friday, Feb. 4 home game with Nebraska-Omaha will be televised by Comcast-Detroit at 7:35 p.m. CSTV will televise its national game of the week on Friday, Feb. 18 from Fort Wayne’s Allen County War Memorial Coliseum at 8:05 when Notre Dame and Michigan battle in CCHA action. Fox Sports Detroit will handle game two of the Michigan series on Saturday, Feb. 19 when the two teams meet at Yost Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. at 7:35 p.m.

Notre Dame’s regular-season television schedule ends on Saturday, March 5 when Comcast-Detroit airs the regular-season home finale as the Irish face Michigan State at the Joyce Center in a 7:05 p.m. game.
