NOTRE DAME, Ind. – After a dual win over Michigan State to open the season two weeks ago and a second-place showing at the 50th annual Dennis Stark Relays last Friday night, the University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team hits the road this weekend for competitions with four teams over two days in two separate states.

The Irish (1-0) first head to Atlanta, Georgia for Friday duals (4 p.m.) against the host Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-1) and the South Carolina Gamecocks (0-1), before busing to Auburn, Alabama for Saturday showdowns (2 p.m. ET) with the host Auburn Tigers (0-0) and the Vanderbilt Commodores (3-3).

Friday’s meet at the GT Aquatic Center gives Notre Dame a chance to test the waters at the pool that is set to host the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, in addition to swimming against a league foe in Georgia Tech. Last year at the ACC Championships, Notre Dame placed sixth with 802 points, while Georgia Tech took 10th with 311.5 points.

Saturday, the Irish will get their first taste of a traditional powerhouse this season in their meeting with the Tigers. Auburn, which has bested Notre Dame in dual meets in each of the last four seasons, finished 14th at last year’s NCAA Championships, but historically has been one of the best in the country with five national titles under its belt.

Notre Dame has gotten off to a solid start to the 2014-15 season under interim head coach Tim Welsh, as the Irish won three events last Friday night at the Dennis Stark Relays after claiming 11 of the 16 races against the Spartans in a 182-118 victory.

The Irish have yet to lose a diving event through two meets, as junior Lindsey Streepey swept both events against MSU, before teaming with fellow junior Emma Gaboury to win both events at the relays.

On the swimming side, six different competitors won individual races against Michigan State. Notre Dame also won the 200 medley relay against the Spartans before taking the non-conventional 300 fly relay crown at the Dennis Stark Relays.
