Irish Head East To Boston College & Syracuse

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team makes its final road trip of the 2017-18 regular season this weekend, visiting Boston College on Friday, April 13, before traveling to Syracuse on Sunday, April 15.

On The Fighting Irish

Notre Dame is looking to rebound after a hard-fought 4-3 loss to NC State in its last outing. Head coach Jay Louderback’s lineup against the Wolfpack had Allison Miller and Brooke Broda at one and two, respectively, followed by Zoe Spence, Cameron Corse, Rachel Chong and Ally Bojczuk. Bojczuk owns the team’s top record at singles during the spring, with an 11-5 overall record and 9-2 mark at six singles.

In doubles, Corse and Spence are 8-9 on the year and have been 2-2 since getting moved up to court one. Chong and Bess Waldram own an 8-4 mark on court three in doubles action.

On The Eagles

Boston College plays host to the Irish coming off a 4-3 victory over Virginia Tech at home last weekend. Asiya Dair has played the entire spring at one singles with a 12-12 record, followed by Lexi Borr at two (11-3) and Dasha Possokhova at three (8-11). Most the season, the lineup has been rounded out by Kylie Wilcox, Emily Safron and Jackie Urbinati.

Possokhova and Wilcox are 8-15 at one doubles on the year, while Borr and Safron are 7-5 on court two and Dair and Urbinati own a 7-2 mark at three doubles.

Notre Dame owns a 14-0 all-time record against Boston College, including a 4-3 win over the Eagles a season ago.

On The Orange

No. 25 Syracuse hosts Duke on Friday, April 13, before the Irish visit on Sunday, April 15. The Orange have played ranked opponents in their last three matches, most recently a 6-0 setback to No. 23 Miami.

Gabriela Knutson is the nation’s fourth-ranked singles player (ITA) with a 15-2 record on the year and eight wins over top-75 opponents. Her two losses came to players ranked among the top three nationally.

Notre Dame has won eight-of-nine matches all-time with Syracuse, including a 5-2 decision over the Orange last year.

Up Next

Notre Dame returns home for the final weekend of the regular season, hosting Florida State and Miami. The match with the Seminoles is set for 4 p.m. on Friday, April 20, with the contest against the Hurricanes on Sunday, April 22, at Noon. Both matches are scheduled to be played outdoors at the Courtney Tennis Center.
