NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame rowing team returns to the water at 8 a.m. (ET) on Sunday on Mercer Lake in Mercer, N.J., in search of its ninth consecutive BIG EAST Title. The eight consecutive titles is the longest active streak in the conference.
Races are tentatively scheduled to commence with eight preliminary heats in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and third varsity eight races at 8:00 a.m. Race finals will follow at approximately 11 a.m., beginning with the third varsity four final.
Last season, the Irish extended their conference win streak to eight after holding off Louisville by five points (114-109). Georgetown concluded last year’s races in third place with 95 total points.
The Irish will take to the water as the overall No. 1 seeded boat in all six scoring events, comprised of the varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four, second varsity four, third varsity eight and third varsity four. The squad also comes into this year’s championship as the only BIG EAST team in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA)/USRowing team rankings, checking in at 15th, and have the second-ranked varsity four crew in the Central Region.
