Irish Go 2-0 on Weekend with Win Over Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky —  The Notre Dame Women’s Tennis team celebrated International Women’s Day with a 4-3 victory over Louisville on Sunday afternoon.

“Overall, it was a solid weekend for our team,” Coach Silverio said. “We continue to battle and will make adjustments as needed. Back to business next week with trusting the process. Press On, Irish!”

How It Happened

After falling behind in doubles, the Irish rebounded in singles to clinch the match. Page Freeman earned the first singles victory of the day to put the Irish on the board. Freeman defeated Rhea Verma, 6-0, 6-1, to give the Irish the early advantage in singles.

Cameron Corse, Ally Bojczuk, and Julia Lilien followed with victories of their own to clinch the Irish win. 

Corse, the 96th ranked player in the country, defeated Raven Neely, 6-2, 7-5. Bojczuk finished fourth with a hard-fought, 7-6, 6-4 win over Dina Chaika. Julia Lilien clinched the victory for the Irish with a three-set win over Nikolina Jovic. After falling in the first set, 4-6, Lilien earned consecutive-set victories, 6-2, 6-2, to wrap up the victory.
