Irish Forward Victor Oreskovich Leaves Notre Dame Hockey Program

Notre Dame, Ind. – University of Notre Dame hockey coach Jeff Jackson announced today that sophomore right wing Victor Oreskovich (Oakville, Ont.) has left the Irish hockey program for personal reasons. He is expected to join the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Kitchener Rangers who obtained his rights in a trade with the Windsor Spitfires on Nov. 24.

Selected in the second round, 55th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche, Oreskovich has played in nine games this season, scoring two goals with one assist for three points. His goals came versus Colorado College and Bowling Green this season. In 37 games as a freshman in 2004-05, Oreskovich had a goal and two assists for three points.

In making the announcement, Jackson said, “Victor has informed me of his decision to leave school. After talking, we mutually agreed upon his choice. We wish him the best and support him in his decision.”
