ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s swimming teams finished their trip to Ann Arbor Sunday, with limited events raced in the morning and select time trials swum in the afternoon.
For the women’s team, Mary Hinton came in second in the 200 back (2:07.56), while Genevieve Heidkamp took second in the 100 free (53.69). Rebecca Walton touched the wall first in the 200 fly (2:06.76) and Molly Barry was the sole swimmer in the 1650 free (17:14.92).
On the men’s side, Daniel Fujan had the highest finish in the 100 free (44.73) at second, followed by Harlin Bessire (third, 45.11) and Billy Barth (seventh, 46.03). In the 200 breast, Ben Gorski finished second (2:01.75), Zach Stump, third (2:03.82) and Maciej Olszewski, fourth (2:05.55). David Stewart took sixth (1:49.72) and Jack Russell seventh (1:51.21) in the 200 fly, and Benjamin Jany came in second in the 1650 free (15:27.03).
In the afternoon time trials, Bessire, Gorski, Stewart and Barth all swam in the 200 free. Bessire had the top time of 1:39.47, with Gorski following (1:40.72), then Stewart (1:40.93) and then Barth (1:41.05). Stump and Russell time-trialed in the 100 breast, with Stump earning a 55.69 (Russell was disqualified). Fujan swam in the 50 free (20.54), while Jany trialed in the 200 fly and finished in 1:50.69. Olszewski earned a time of 2:03.48 in the 200 breast time trial.
On the women’s team, Heidkamp (57.85) and Hinton (1:03.17) trialed in the 100 back, while Barry earned a 54.11 time in the 100 free time trial and Walton touched the wall in 1:54.17 in the 200 free time trial.
