FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Notre Dame swimming team wrapped up competition with a third-place finish out of 12 teams at the Husky Invitational in Federal Way, Wash. The Irish finished the three-day competition with 972 points while the host school, Washington, took the title with 1,439 points and USC placed second with 1,290 points.

On the final day of swimming, 16 Irish swimmers made it past the prelims during the morning session to compete in the evening session of finals. The highlight of the night for Notre Dame was the first-place finish by Amywren Miller (Grosse Pointe Woods, MI/The Peddie School) in the 100 freestyle. Miller cut her season best time of 51.69 by over a second, swimming a new best of 50.37. She was followed by teammate Christa Riggins (Phoenix, AZ/Sunnyslope H.S.) who tied for second place with a time of 50.53. Riggins also cut her season-best time by quite a bit, with her previous best being 51.23.

Lauren Parisi (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge H.S.) also made great strides in the pool, taking second in the 200 backstroke. Her time of 2:00.83 also marked a season-best time for the freshman.

The Irish have a break until the new year, when they return to the pool to take on LSU in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on January 2.
