IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Notre Dame men’s golf team carded a final round score of 299 to post an 11th-place finish Sunday at the Hawkeye – Great River Entertainment Invitational at the Finkbine Golf Course.

Junior Niall Platt was the top finisher for the Irish, firing a final round two-over par, 74 to claim a share of 11th place (73-73-74-220, +4). Platt made a pair of birdies during his back nine to come in with an even par 36.

One round removed from his tournament-low score of five-under 67 Saturday, freshman Cory Sciupider logged a 76 to tie for 21st (80-67-76-223). Sciupider birdied three of the Finkbine Golf Course’s four par-5’s during the final round.

Junior Andrew Lane (77-76-78) and sophomore Tyler Wingo (80-76-75) posted identical scores of 231 to tie for 49th place. Wingo played his final nine holes in one-under par, birdieing the par-5 6th hole. Lane added three birdies of his own on his back nine.

Senior Paul McNamara III registered his best round of the weekend, recording birdies on three par-5’s as part of a two-over 74 to share 58th place (81-78-74-233).

Kansas claimed the team tournament title by one stroke with a final day 291 (286-290-291-867) to edge Iowa (294-290-284-868). Charlotte (302-288-290-880) and Minnesota (293-293-294-880) tied for third place, while Nebraska (290-297-300-887) finished fifth.

The Irish will compete at the 2013 BIG EAST Championship April 28-30 at the Reunion Resort Watson Course in Orlando, Fla.
