Irish finalize 2022-23 ACC schedule

With less than two months until the start of the 2022-23 Notre Dame women’s basketball slate, the ACC schedule is here. The rundown includes 18 games, with two dates scheduled against Boston College, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.

The Irish will open conference play a week before Christmas with a road trip to Virginia Tech on Dec. 18. Before the spring semester begins in mid-January, Notre Dame will travel to Miami (Dec. 29), North Carolina (Jan. 8) and Syracuse (Jan. 15); and the Irish will host Boston College (Jan. 1) and Wake Forest (Jan. 12).

A Jan. 19 date at Clemson will be the first game when classes start back up, and then Notre Dame returns home for games against Virginia and Florida State on Jan. 22 and Jan. 26, respectively. January will end with a matchup on the 29th at NC State.

The Irish have five of eight February games at home: Duke (Feb. 5), Pittsburgh (Feb.9), Syracuse (Feb. 12), Louisville (Feb.16) and Georgia Tech (Feb. 23). They’ll face Boston College (Feb. 2), Pittsburgh (Feb. 19) and Louisville (Feb. 26) for the second time in 2023, this time on the road.

Looking back to last season, five ACC teams, including No. 17 Notre Dame, finished in the final Coaches Poll Top 25: Louisville (No. 4), NC State (No. 5), North Carolina (No. 16) and Virginia Tech (No. 25). Louisville, NC State and Notre Dame occupy the seventh, eighth and ninth spots, respectively, in the most recent ESPN Way-Too-Early Top 25. Virginia Tech (No. 11) and North Carolina (No. 13) made the cut as well.

The Irish went 13-5 in conference play in 2021-22 and finished with a 24-9 overall record. They posted an 8-1 home record in the ACC.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series with every ACC opponent.
