Irish Fall to No. 4 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  The Notre Dame Fighting Irish fell to the No. 4 Louisville Cardinals in three sets in the KFC Yum! Center on Wednesday, Oct. 26 (10-25, 22-25, 14-25). The Irish were led by Lucy Trump with seven kills and Hattie Monson who tallied 17 digs.

While the Irish fell 10-25 in set one, Notre Dame came out swinging in set two. The Irish led 6-5 to start the second and went point for point with the Cardinals to maintain the lead at 9-8. After being tied at 11-11, Louisville took the lead 15-11, but kills from Lucy Trump and Phyona Schrader made it an even 19-19. The Cardinals took the lead at 23-20 and while the Irish closed the gap to one at 23-22, Louisville went on to take set two 25-22. Despite the Irish’s late efforts in set three, the No. 4 Cardinals took home the final third set win at 25-14.
