Irish Fall to Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, MA. – The #18 Fighting Irish met with the #2 Boston College Eagles on Saturday afternoon for an ACC matchup where the Irish fell to the Eagles 16-10.

Jackie Wolak led the Irish with four goals while Hannah Dorney led the Irish in groundball pickups with four.

Mary Kelly Doherty tallied a career-high nine draw controls for the Irish.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first Irish goal came at the eight minute mark in the first quarter from Kasey Choma. Wolak followed up with a goal of her own with just over five minutes remaining in the quarter. Maddie Howe tallied a goal in the second quarter after over six minutes of scoreless action on both sides.

Notre Dame put up three goals in the third quarter when Wolak, Choma and Madison Ahern scored for the Irish. With an offensive burst, the Irish continued to add to their tally in the final stanza. A goal from Wolak got things started in the fourth quarter when a caused turnover by Diana Kelly gave the Irish possession to eventually score their seventh goal. Just a minute later, Choma was able to convert on her free position attempt. Notre Dame would score their final two goals of the game within thirty seconds of each other.

The Irish are back on their home turf at Arlotta Stadium on Saturday April 16 when they host the Pittsburgh Panthers. The contest will also celebrate the Irish senior class members. The game will be streamed live on the ACCNX and there will be live stats available.
