Irish Earn USMC-AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ind. –  The United States Marines Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today that the University of Notre Dame earned the USMC-AVCA Team Academic Award this season. The award, initiated in the 1922-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

The Irish will take the court under first year head coach Salima Rockwell in August. The 2022 slate opens with the Irish Invitational, where Notre Dame will host Texas Tech, Mississippi State and Milwaukee in a three-day event at Purcell Pavilion August 26-28. The non-conference schedule will feature trips to Long Beach, Calif., Norfolk, Va., and Indianapolis before beginning Atlantic Coast Conference play in Tallahassee.
