Irish Earn Non-Conference Sweep vs. DePaul

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — No. 43 Notre Dame Men’s Tennis earned a sweeping, 7-0 non-conference victory over DePaul at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on Monday afternoon. The Irish move to 11-8 overall.

After a half-hour rain delay at the start of the match, the courts dried in time to begin doubles play. The Irish earned victories from Tristan McCormick/Axel Nefve and Brandon Ancona/William Howells to clinch the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles play.

Midway through the first set of singles play, the rain returned and play was suspended briefly to move inside to resume the match.

All six Irish singles players earned points to give the Irish the 7-0 victory over DePaul. Graduate student Brandon Ancona built on his success in doubles play to defeat Luuk Wassenaar, 6-2, 6-1, to win the first Irish singles point.

Axel Nefve, Tristan McCormick, Matthew Che, Richard Ciamarra, and Connor Fu all earned straight-set victories in the win.
