NOTRE DAME, Ind. — A remarkable run came to an end for University of Notre Dame men’s tennis seniors Eddy Covalschi and Josh Hagar on Saturday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa.

The Irish duo fell to third-ranked Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim of Wake Forest, 6-0, 6-1, after winning six straight matches to open the fall slate. By advancing to the quarterfinal, however, Covalschi and Hagar earned automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship, held in November at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

In singles, Hagar split the day in the consolation bracket, winning his first match over No. 69 JC Aragone of Virginia, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, to advance to the consolation quarterfinal before falling to Mississippi State’s No. 43 Nuno Borges.

Back on their home court, the balance of the Irish team wrapped up Day 2 of the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, playing two rounds of singles and a doubles match. The Irish went 7-9 in singles Saturday, with freshman Guillermo Cabrera going 2-0 on the day.

The Irish will wrap up play Sunday with a round each of singles and doubles, beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
