Irish Drop ACC Matchup with Clemson, 4-3

CLEMSON, S.C. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss to the Clemson Tigers Friday evening at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The Irish took the doubles point, but were defeated in singles play to suffer the loss. The Fighting Irish fall to 8-6 on the season and 1-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference action.

The tandem of Page Freeman and Maria Olivia Castedo began the day with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, followed by a 7-5 win at No. 3 by Carrie Beckman and Nibedita Ghosh to earn the point.

In singles play, Freeman again earned the win, defeating Cristina Mayorova, 6-3, 7-6 (3). Castedo notched the other Irish point, winning at No. 6, 6-1, 7-6 (5). Julia Andreach and Ghosh each went to three sets in their matches at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, but came out on the short end.
