DES MOINES, Iowa – The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up its final regular season schedule with two first-place finishes, five second-place finishes and 15 top-five finishes this weekend at the 104th annual Drake Relays (April 25-27) and the 47th annual Hillsdale College Gina Relays (April 26-27).

The Irish were led by Dominick Padovano (discus) and the women’s 4x800m relay team who each achieved event victories.

Anthony Thomas (hammer), Christopher Quinn (1,500m), Amanda Chamblee (javelin), Michelle Rotondo (400m) and the women’s 4x400m team each claimed second-place finishes.

The 4x800m team consisting of Kelly Curran, Alexa Aragon, Danielle Aragon and Rebecca Tracy reclaimed the top time in the BIG EAST (8:33.65), overtaking the current leader Villanova (8:40.50).

The 4x400m team composed of Megan Yanik, Amber Lalla, Margaret Bamgbose and Michelle Brown increase their time on the BIG EAST performance list by two-tenths of a second, extending their lead over second-place Rutgers by 1.38 seconds.

Notre Dame will compete next at the BIG EAST Championship (May 3-5) in Piscataway, N.J., on the campus of Rutgers University.

Gina Relays Results (Top-15)

Men:

Hammer: Anthony Thomas placed second in the event with a hurl of 55.05m. Nicholas Hauser finished 11th throwing a distance of 44.05m.

High Jump: Dean Odegard finished 13th clearing a height of 1.75m.

110mH: Dean Odegard (17.13) placed 12th.

5,000m: Patrick Lesiewicz crossed the line at 14:28.42 to place 12th.

Javelin: Peter Kristiansen finished third with a hurl of 51.65m. Nicholas Hauser placed 9th (40.99m).

Discus: Dominick Padovano won the event with a hurl of 48.96m. Anthony Thomas finished third (47.25m).

Pole Vault: David Schipper (eighth) cleared a height of 4.71m and Patrick Krach (15th) was successful at 4.56m.

1,500m: Christopher Quinn was the runner-up with a time of 3:55.83. Walter Schafer (15th) stopped the clock at 4:01.92.

110mH: Bryce Wood (14.80) placed fifth followed by Adam Saintz (15.51-ninth) Ted Glasnow (15.70-11th) and Tom Gay (16.26-13th).

100m: Ted Glasnow finished 12th (11.42). 800m: Kevin Byrne (12th) crossed the line at 1:53.33.

400m: Ben Harvel (56.02) placed eighth.

Women:

Shot Put: Emily Kujawski threw for a distance of 12.49m (sixth) and Lena Madison achieved a distance of 12.42m (seventh).

Hammer: Lena Madison picked up a 10th place finish (48.17m) and Emily Kujawski followed close in 11th place (48.14m).

1,500m: McKinzie Schulz placed eighth (4:30.28) and Emily Frydrych finished 11th (4:91.90). Kelsey Amarosa (4:41.83) placed fifth in the open section and Megan Kilbride (4:52.42) crossed the line in 11th place.

5,000m: Meg Ryan achieved an 11th place finish, stopping the clock at 16:56.80.

Discus: Madeline Casanova (46.71m) finished third and Lena Madison (39.90m) placed 15th.

Javelin: Amanda Chamblee (37.99m) was the event runner-up.

800m: Angela Ryck crossed the line at 2:14.10 (eighth) followed by Kaileen Healy (2:14.28-ninth).

400m: Michelle Rotondo (1:01.30) was the event runner-up. Mikaila Chamblee (1:02.76) placed sixth.

Drake Relays Results (Top-15)

Men:

4x400m: Brendan Dougherty, Chris Giesting, Jarrod Buchanon and Patrick Feeney finished second in their heat and fifth overall with a time of 3:09.14 in the prelims. The foursome finished third in the finals stopping the clock at 3:05.87.

Women:

4x400m: Megan Yanik, Amber Lalla, Margaret Bamgbose and Michelle Brown were the top team in the prelims with a time of 3:36.77. The foursome placed second in the finals with a time of 3:34.39.

4x800m: Kelly Curran, Alexa Aragon, Danielle Aragon and Rebecca Tracy won the event in a time of 8:33.65 surpassing second-place finisher Illinois (8:37.02).

100m: Aijah Urssery placed fourth (11.74).

1,500m: Danielle Aragon finished fourth (4:18.79) and Alexa Aragon placed sixth (4:19.56).
