Irish Conclude Competition At Sun Angel Classic

TEMPE, Ariz. — The University of Notre Dame track and field team wrapped up action at the Sun Angel Classic on Saturday at Arizona State’s Sun Angel Track.

Sophomore Alexa Coubal highlighted the field events on Saturday as she set a collegiate personal record in the discus. Coubal placed sixth and threw 44.71m.

Senior Indi Jackson threw a season-best 15.96m in the women’s shot put premiere, coming in fifth place overall.

Sophomore Kyla Lewis came in 12th in the 100m dash premiere, recording a team-best time of 12.10.

Freshman Summer Thorpe placed fifth overall in the 100m hurdles (13.86), while freshman Madysen Hunter recorded a collegiate personal record with a time of 14.81.

Junior Payton Miller was the top Irish finisher in the 200m dash open as she set a personal record with a fourth-place finish (24.79). Freshmen Madysen Hunter (25.26) and Michaela Butler (25.40) finished sixth and tied for eighth, respectively.

In the 400m, Miller finished sixth, recording a time of 54.98.

Junior Jordan Shead led the Irish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 59.14 seconds and placing fourth with a personal record.

Senior Jacob Dumford finished the 800m race just .03 seconds shy of matching his personal record. Dumford placed seventh with a time of 1:51.82.

Junior Kevin Pulliam recorded a personal record in the 1,500m race, running a time of 3:56.14 and coming in fourth place overall. Fellow junior Brent Kennedy (4:01.89) also ran to a personal record in the 1,500m.
