Irish Complete Weekend Regatta Against Tulsa With Pair Of Victories

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s rowing team secured two victories on Friday and Saturday against the University of Tulsa on the St. Joseph’s River in varsity eight and varsity four action.

On Friday, the Irish brought home the varsity eight head race (time trial), as the boat of coxswain Abby Meyers, Paige White, Katie Suyo, Olivia Kacsits, Molly Bruggeman, Genevieve Malone, Carol Ann Michel, Emily Crosby and Stephanie O’Neill crossed the line at 14:13.1. Tulsa’s first varsity eight and second varsity eight claimed second and third, stopping the clock at 14:19.2 and 14:45.5, respectively.

The Irish boat of coxswain Rachael Louie, Sarah McShane, Teresa Blumenstein, Kathryn Monahan, Brianna Krafcik, Kelsey Haddad, Alyce Kanabrocki, Kelsey Murphy and Katherine Linnemanstons placed fourth in a time of 14:47.1.

The Irish boat coxed by Jacqueline Gilhooly and crewed by Kiersten DeHaven, Valerie Brencher, Elizabeth Linnemanstons, Megan Keegan, Erin McConnell, Joanna Poinsatte, Sarah Thompson and Stephanie Gretsch crossed next in a time of 14:49.8.

The boat of coxswain Danni Schneider, Kiran Ikram, Meghan Salomon, Paige Aiello, Theresa Rubiner, Anna VanEgmond, Analisa LaMair-Orosco, Ching-Ting Hwang and Stephanie Boggs finished in sixth in a time of 15:11.3. The final Irish boat, coxed by Catherine Dines and crewed by Elizabeth Peterson, Michelle Rameriz, Laura Hartigan, Nicole Michels, Kelsey Sekanick, Anne Marie Blieszner, Julia Lynch and Courtney Gaberino, crossed in seventh with a mark of 16:02.4

Saturday saw the Irish compete in varsity four action, with coxswain Jacqueline Gilhooly, Genevieve Malone, Carol Ann Michel, Emily Crosby and Stephanie O’Neill leading the way after clocking a time of 11:37.6.

Tulsa “A” finished second at 11:38.7 and Tulsa “B” crossed third at 11:57.8. Notre Dame earned fourth place as the boat of coxswain Kerry Casey, Katie Suyo, Paige White, Molly Bruggeman and Olivia Kacsits stopped the clock at 11:59.6.

Tulsa’s “C” and “D” boats crossed next after posting times of 12:09.7 and 12:14.4, respectively.

The Irish rounded out the field as coxswain Danni Schneider, Brianna Krafcik, Sarah McShane, Teresa Blumenstein and Kathryn Monahan placed seventh in a time of 12:15.5, while coxswain Rachael Louie led her crew of Kelsey Haddad, Alyce Kanabrocki, Kelsey Murphy and Katherine Linnemanstons across the gate in eighth after recording a time of 12:25.3.

Notre Dame returns to action next Sunday as they head to Indianapolis, Ind. for a regatta against Indiana.
