Irish Compete at Redbird Invite and Stanford Invite

BLOOMINGTON, IL. – The Fighting Irish traveled to Illinois State for the 2022 Redbird Invite April 1 through April 2 and one member of the Notre Dame squad represented the Irish at the Stanford Invite.

Luis Cossio ran in the 400m dash where he crossed the finish line at 49.66 and fourth in his section. In the same event, John Oleksak finished at 50.16 and third in his section and right behind him was teammates Matthew Cornelius who ran for a time of 50.85 and Luke Phillips with a time of 51.09.

In the women’s 400m hurdles, Caroline Isemann took third in her section with a time of 1:07.04. In the second section of 400m hurdles, Sofia Rooney took third at 1:13.15. Tyrah Taylor ran in the 100m dash for a time of 12.76 and finished third in her heat. 

At the women’s hammer throw, Maddy Jones took first in her flight with a throw of 45.35m. Teammate Rachel Tanczos also took first in her flight with a toss of 58.10m. In the same flight, Emma Albano threw for a mark of 50.76m. In the men’s hammer throw, Blake Kusky took first in his flight at 56.73m.

In women’s high jump, Madison Schmidt hit a mark of 1.70m to take second place. Sarah Flight took seventh with a mark of 1.65m and Alaina Brady took tenth with a mark of 1.55m. In eighth place at women’s pole vault, Alexandra Chlumsky hit 3.40m and in the men’s pole vault Nolan Blachowski hit 4.90m for second place.

Over in California, at the Stanford Invite, Kaitlin Ryan ran in the 1500m. She ran for a time of 4:24.14.
