NOTRE DAME, Ind. – In the opening meet of the 2015 campaign, the Notre Dame cross country team raced Friday evening in the Crusader Open at the Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Valparaiso, Ind. As a team, the Irish posted runner-up finishes in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

The top finisher for the Notre Dame men was sophomore Calvin Kraft. A native of Toms River, N.J., Kraft placed fourth with a time of 18.47.9. Joining Kraft in the Top 10 individually were Irish racers Chris Marco and Kevin Pulliam. Marco earned seventh in 18:56.8, while Pulliam crossed the line in ninth with a mark of 18:58.4.

On the women’s side, Notre Dame claimed the runner-up spot on the individual leaderboard behind the effort of sophomore Sydney Foreman (17:56.2). Junior Elli Brady claimed seventh in a time of 18:38.2.

This marks the 13th consecutive season the Irish have kicked off their season with the Crusader Open. The team will return to competition Friday, Sept. 18 for the National Catholic Championship, which is hosted by the Irish at the Notre Dame Golf Course.
