Sept. 12, 2006

The University of Notre Dame athletic department, in cooperation with Notre Dame Sports Properties and Centennial Wireless has brought back Irish ALERT for the 2006 fall sports season. Continuing Notre Dame’s commitment to its alumni and fans, Irish ALERT will be free of charge*.

Tested with baseball, softball, men’s lacrosse and women’s lacrosse in the spring of ’06, Irish ALERT will expand this fall to cover all of Notre Dame’s fall sports – football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s golf and women’s golf.

Starting this weekend (Sept. 15) all of the fall sports will start sending text alerts to Irish fans across the country on their wireless communication devices. For football, fans are offered two different options – simple score updates and key stats after each quarter, or detailed stats and score changes on a more frequent basis during the game.

For all other sports, score changes and updates will be sent periodically during each team’s competition.
