WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Despite unfavorable weather conditions the University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams were able to notch eight first-place finishes Saturday at the Purdue Dave Rankin Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
Women’s Results
Javelin Throw: Amanda Chamblee was the fourth-place finisher (35.27m).
Hammer Throw: Mason Bashaw finished 16th (44.86m).
Pole Vault: Chrissy Finkel finished second (3.95m), while Annie Polcari placed ninth (3.60m). Jessica Sullivan finished in 10th place (3.45m) and Kathryn Barousse also placed 10th at 3.45m.
High Jump: Maddie Buttinger placed second (1.64m).
Long Jump: Jasmine Williams finished in sixth place (5.40m) and Lauren Leniart placed ninth (5.21m).
Discus Throw: Vivien Devaney finished in seventh place (46.14m), followed by Madeline Casanova in eighth place (41.95m) and Emily Kujawski in ninth place (41.23m).
Triple Jump: Jasmine Williams was the first-place finisher (11.65m), followed by Kelly Burke in fourth place (11.25m) and Lauren Leniart in sixth place.
Shot Put: Emily Kujawski finished in 13th place (11.52m).
5,000-meter run: Lindsey Ferguson finished in first place in 17:32.96, followed by Erica Watson in fourth place in 17:49.49 and Marissa Treece in fifth place in 18:02.68. Kari Johnson placed ninth in 18:27.18, while Theresa Cattuna placed 12th in 18:36.74 and Michelle Mowry was the 14th-place finisher in 18:50.62.
400-meter relay: Notre Dame (Nevada Sorenson, Michelle Brown, Sasha Blanchard and Aijah Urssery) finished in third place in 47.89.
1,500-meter run: Alexa Aragon was the first-place finisher in 4:37.60, followed by Rachel Velarde in third place in 4:39.74 and Meg Ryan in fifth place in 4:40.55. Molly Hirt claimed seventh place in 4:42.09, Susanna Sullivan was the ninth-place finisher, followed by Gena Bleyer in 11th place and Grace Brier in 13th place (4:56.08m).
100-meter hurdles: Nevada Sorenson finished in third place in 13.77, while Maddie Buttinger finished in 10th place in 15.09 and Sasha Blanchard finished 12th in 15.33.
400-meter dash: Michelle Brown claimed first place in 55.93, followed by Natalie Geiger in ninth place in 59.23 and Tiffany Tibbot in 19th place in 1:03.77.
100-meter dash: Aijah Urssery placed second in 12.41.
800-meter run: McKinzie Schulz placed third in 2:16.72, followed by Allison Schroeder in fifth place in 2:18.41 and Kelly Langhans in seventh place in 2:20.11. Alexa Aragon finished ninth in 2:21.48, followed by Molly Hirt in 10th place in 2:23.15 and Angela Ryck in 19th place in 2:33.74.
400-meter hurdles: Sasha Blanchard placed third in 1:04.34, followed by Jaclyn Winkel in fourth place in 1:05.47 and Ann Marie Kelly in sixth place in 1:05.95.
200-meter dash: Aijah Urssery placed first in 26.19, followed by Natalie Geiger in fourth place in 26.72.
3,000-meter steeplechase: Ryan Russ claimed fifth place in 12:07.51.
Men’s Results
Javelin Throw: Peter Kristiansen finished in fourth place (45.49m).
Hammer Throw: Mitchell Gormley placed third (54.40m), followed by Mike Smigelski in sixth place (51.53m) and Anthony Thomas in ninth place (48.52m).
Long Jump: Patrick Glass placed fifth with a mark of 6.46m.
Shot Put: Andrew Brock claimed seventh place (15.27m), while Justin Schneider finished 14th (12.58m).
Pole Vault: Kevin Schipper placed second (5.15m) and Andrew Kolbeck finished in seventh place (4.80m).
High Jump: Doug Onuscheck finished in fifth place (1.84m).
Triple Jump: Connor Paladino placed sixth (11.82m).
Discus Throw: David Anderson finished in eighth place (44.75m), followed by Anthony Thomas in 10th place (42.29m).
5,000 Meters: Paul Springer claimed first place in 15:09.99, followed by Jeff MacMillan in 15:17.72 and Thomas Pesch in 15:35.42.
400-meter relay: Notre Dame (Jarrod Buchanon, Miklos Szebeny, Patrick Feeney and Edward Hitchler) finished in third place in 41.98.
1,500 Meters: Spencer Carter placed fourth in 3:59.30 and DJ Thornton finished eighth in 4:08.45.
110-meter hurdles: Jarrod Buchanon placed fourth in 14.83 and Justin Schneider finished 11th in 15.94.
400-meter dash: Edward Hitchler finished in third place in 49.34, while Brendan Dougherty placed fourth in 49.42. Eric Roth finished in 14th place in 52.41 and Justin Schneider claimed 20th in 53.83.
100-meter dash: Miklos Szebeny finished in sixth place in 11.32 and Connor Paladino placed 13th in 11.61.
800-meter run: Randall Babb finished third in 1:57.48, followed by Jack Favorite in fourth place in 1:57.66 and Mitchell Lorenz in fifth place in 1:58.29. Zac Suriano placed seventh in 2:00.59 and Kevin Hendrickson was the 20th-place finisher in 2:09.33.
400-meter hurdles: Jarrod Buchanon placed second in 55.95 and Matthew Brown placed fifth in 57.13.
200-meter dash: Patrick Feeney placed first in 22.67, while Edward Hitchler was the third-place finisher in 22.98 and Eric Roth finished in ninth place in 23.82.
3,000-meter Steeplechase: Thomas Noel placed first in 9:41.19 and Kyle Higdon claimed third in 10:21.15.
