DES MOINES, Iowa/HILLSDALE, Mich. – The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams held competition at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. through the weekend and the men’s 4×1,600-meter relay comprised of Jordan Carlson, Johnathan Shawel, J.P. Malette, and Jeremy Rae claimed second place in 16:38.99.
Women’s Results at the Drake Relays
800-meter run: Abby Higgins was the 14th-place finisher in 2:16.43.
100-meter hurdles: Nevada Sorenson finished in 10th place in 13.97.
Pole Vault: Chrissy Finkel placed 16th (3.70m).
Shot Put: Rudy Atang placed 20th (13.80m).
800-meter run: Kelly Langhans placed ninth in 2:14.78.
Men’s Results at the Drake Relays
4×1,600-meter relay: Notre Dame (Jordan Carlson, Johnathan Shawel, J.P. Malette, Jeremy Rae) finished in second place in 16:38.99.
400-meter relay: Notre Dame (Edward Hitchler, Brendan Dougherty, Jarrod Buchanon, Patrick Feeney) placed 10th in 3:13.52.
Shot Put: Denes Veres was the 10th-place finisher (16.74m).
3,200-meter relay: Notre Dame (Randall Babb, Mitchell Lorenz, Kevin Labus, Jack Howard) placed third in 7:25.75.
Women’s Results from the Hillsdale Relays
Shot Put: Emily Kujawski finished in seventh place (12.84m) and Madeline Casanova finished ninth (12.23m).
Long Jump: Lauren Leniart placed 17th (5.15m).
Hammer Throw: Mason Bashaw placed eighth (44.72m) and Vivien Devaney was the 13th-place finisher (41.89m).
High Jump: Kendra Jennings finished eighth (1.60m)
400-meter hurdles: Megan Yankik was the first-place finisher in 1:00.41, followed by Jaclyn Winkel in 28th place in 1:08.26.
1,500-meter run Invite: Kelly Curran finished second in 4:25.52, followed by Alexa Aragon in fifth place in 4:27.73. Meg Ryan placed ninth in 4:30.34 and McKinzie Schulz finished 14th (4:31.89).
5,000-meter run Invite: Susanna Sullivan placed second in 16:56.43, followed by Rachel Velarde in third place in 17:00.03 and Lindsey Ferguson in ninth place in 17:09.76. Theresa Cattuna finished 22nd in 17:40.72, while Marissa Treece finished 26th (17:48.66) and Kari Johnson was 28th in 17:51.02.
Pole Vault: Kelly Burke finished in fifth place (3.70m), followed by Kathryn Barousse and Annie Polcari who tied for ninth place (3.70m) and Jessica Sullivan who finished in 11th place (3.70m).
100-meter hurdles: Sasha Blanchard placed eighth in 14.75 and Maddie Buttinger finished in 12th place in 15.24.
1,500-meter run: Gena Bleyer finished 23rd in 4:56.02 and Ryan Russ finished in 28th place in 4:58.10 and Grace Brier finished 32nd in 4:59.01.
400-meter dash: Natalie Geiger finished in 10th place in 58.84 and Tiffany Tibbot finished 32nd in 1:02.29.
100-meter dash: Aijah Urssery finished in seventh place in 12.31.
800-meter run: Rebecca Tracy finished in first place in 2:09.70, followed by Allison Schroeder in eighth place in 2:13.68 and Natalie Johnson in 20th place in 2:19.00.
200-meter dash: Aijah Urssery finished in 10th place in 25.33, followed by Maddie Buttinger in 15th place in 25.71, Natalie Geiger in 19th place (25.81) and Tiffany Tibbot in 46th place in 27.22.
3,000-meter run: Molly Hirt finished in 14th place in 10:26.15.
Men’s Results from the Hillsdale Relays
Hammer Throw: John Belcher placed second with a 56.75m toss, followed by Greg Davis in third place (54.80m) and Mitchell Gormley in sixth place (52.94m). Mike Smigelksi finished eighth (52.94m) and Andrew Hills placed 15th (45.88m).
High Jump: Doug Onuscheck was the sixth-place finisher as he cleared 1.95m.
Long Jump: Patrick Glass placed seventh (6.77m).
Shot Put: John Belcher finished in third place (16.26m), followed by Andrew Hills in fourth place (16.11m) and Andrew Brock in sixth place (15.31m).
400-meter hurdles: Matthew Brown was the 10th-place finisher in 54.51.
3,000-meter steeplechase: Thomas Noel placed seventh in 9:36.91.
5,000-meter run: Mat Abernethy placed first in 14:51.93, followed by Thomas Pesch in 15:03 and Jeff MacMillan in 15:07.66. Paul Springer finished in 67th place 15:47.93.
1,500-meter run Invite: Spencer Carter placed fifth in 3:50.30 and Ryan Gamboa placed 14th in 3:51.93.
Triple Jump: Patrick Glass finished in seventh place (12.86m).
Javelin Throw: Peter Kristiansen placed second (53.82m).
110-meter hurdles: Dean Odegard finished 22nd in 17.57.
1,500-meter run: Kelly Lynch claimed second place in 3:55.30.
400-meter dash: Eric Roth was the ninth-place finisher in 49.70.
100-meter dash: Miklos Szebeny finished in second place in 10.67 and Connor Paladino finished 20th in 11.21.
800-meter run: Zac Suriano finished in ninth place in 1:56.90 and Kevin Hendrickson placed 42nd in 2:03.82.
