Notre Dame, Ind. – Maja Hansen, assistant director of ticketing at Notre Dame, was inducted into University of New Hampshire Athletic Hall of Fame on November 4, 2006. A native of Bloomington, Minn., she was a two-sport standout at the school as a member of both the soccer and lacrosse teams from 1991-95.

A goalie for the Wildcats’ soccer team, Hansen played in 54 games in goal (totaling 5,084) minutes and registered a 22-24-4 record. During her career, she made 389 saves, while allowing just 78 goals for a 1.38 goals against average and a save percentage of .844. In addition, she posted 14 career shutouts. For her efforts, Hansen garnered conference and national recognition.

As a freshman, she was named to the Brine All-New England Second Team. A two-time North Atlantic Conference in 1994 and ’95, Hansen was selected to the NSCAA All-New England team following her junior campaign. As a senior, she garnered ISAA National Goalkeeper of the Year honors and was a first-team NSCAA All-American honoree as well as a first team NSCAA Northeast Region honoree. She was, and still remains, the University of New Hampshire’s only first team All-American selection in soccer.

Hansen’s athletic accomplishments were not limited solely to just the soccer field. She represented the Wildcats as an outstanding lacrosse player as well. Hansen played in 42 games, scoring 23 goals and dishing off 18 assists (41 career points). At the conclusion of her sophomore season, she was named to the North Regional All-America Honorable Mention team. As a junior, Hansen was honored as a member of the IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse All-America third team, in addition to earning first-team Brine/IWLCA All-America honors. In her senior year, She was a repeat selection to the regional team and also was named to the IWLCA/U.S. Lacrosse All-America First Team.

Since the ’04 campaign, Hansen also has served as assistant soccer coach and goalkeeper coach at Saint Mary’s College.
