NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 17/20 University of Notre Dame women’s golf team sits in fourth place after 36 holes with a two-day total of 23-over par 594 (289-310) at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. The Irish fired a second-round total of 22-over par 310 on Tuesday afternoon.

The par-72 Jimmy Austin OU Golf Club (6,327 yards) posed as an unforgiving challenge on the second day of the tournament with wind gusts of up to 26-miles-per-hour, pressing golfers with a few more added strokes per hole. Only five golfers shot even or under par after 18 did it in Monday’s opening round.

The Irish trail host and first-place Oklahoma by 20 strokes. Notre Dame is just three stokes behind second-place No. 50 Coastal Carolina and five behind third-place No. 22 Texas Tech.

Despite the conditions, Notre Dame freshman Lindsey Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz.), turned in a sparkling round of even-par 72 after a bogey on the par 4 first hole, she double bogeyed the par 3 second. From there the talented freshman played the remaining 16 holes in three-under par; picking up birdies on the par 5 eighth and finishing with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18.

Weaver currently leads the tournament with a two-day total of four-under 140. She leads the field by one stroke over Texas Tech’s Kimberly Kaufman (68-73-141) and Sooner foes Emily Collins (70-71-141) and Chirapat Jao-Javanil (70-71-141).

Weaver has now shot even-or under par in two rounds for a 54-hole tournament in each of her last two tournaments.

Sophomore Ashley Armstrong (Flossmoor, III.) is second among Irish golfers with a 36-hole score of 152 (75-77) and is tied for 28th.

Junior Kristina Nhim (Cypress, Calif.) finished her second round with a six-over par 78 and is tied for 49th place with a two-day mark of 155 (77-78).

Sophomore Kelli Oride (Lihue, Hawaii) posted an eleven-over par 83 that put her in 49th place going into the final round with a 155 after an opening-round of even-par 72.

Freshman Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas) ended the day with a 12-over par effort and tied for 68th place with a 15 mark (74-84).
