MONDAY MORNING WAKEUP CALL – The Notre Dame baseball team (23-15, 9-4 BIG EAST) will play its second Monday doubleheader of the 2005 BIG EAST season and will be hoping for better results than the previous time (when the Irish lost twice at Rutgers) … the Irish are in the midst of a 13-game homestand … ND is slated to start sophomore RHP Dan Kapala is Monday’s first game (series finale TBA) while VU will counter with sophomore RHPs Kevin Mulvey and Mike Loree … Paul Mainieri, in his 11th season at ND and 23rd overall as a college head coach, heads into Monday’s twin-bill game with an 802-466-2 career record (.632) that includes 471-187-1 (.716) with the Irish … he recently became the 27th active Div. 1 coach with 800-plus career wins as a college head baseball coach.
