RIVALRY RENEWAL – Notre Dame and longtime BIG EAST rival Rutgers will battle this week at Bainton Field, in the Class of ’53 Complex … the teams will play a doubleheader (both game 9-innings) on Sat., April 28, with a single game n Sunday the 29th (note that the start of the doubleheader has been pushed back to noon while Sunday’s game still will start at noon) … Rutgers (24-14) sits atop the BIG EAST rankings (12-3) while Notre Dame (22-18, 6-8) is tied for 7th, in the race for spots in the 8-team BIG EAST Tournament … the Irish are coming off an 8-2 homestand and have rebounded from a 1-6 start in the BIG EAST (5-2 since that start).
