Irish Add Theofilos To Roster For 2009 Season

June 2, 2009

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame head volleyball coach Debbie Brown announced recently that Christina Theofilos has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career with the Irish beginning in the fall of 2009.

“I was captivated by Christina the first time I saw her play and she continues to be one of my favorite players to watch,” Brown said. “She plays with tremendous enthusiasm and fire, and is a fierce competitor. She has excellent libero skills and is a very good setter. I can’t wait to have her in the gym with our program.”

Theofilos, a 5-4 libero from Tampa, Fla., played her high school ball for Berkeley Prep. A four-year starter, she was most recently named a first-team all-state performer while earning honorable mention All-America honors from PrepVolleyball.com.

Theofilos joins middle blocker Hillary Eppink and outside hitter Marie Roof as incoming freshmen on the 2009 Notre Dame roster.

Notre Dame will return 14 players from a 2008 team that finished 17-14 and placed second at the BIG EAST Conference Championship.
