Oct. 12, 2000

Notre Dame live hockey broadcasts will be shifted to WHLY 1620 AM-a sister station of South Bend’s WJVA 1580 and U-93 FM-beginning with Friday night’s game versus fourth-ranked Boston College (at the Maverick Stampede on Omaha, Neb.). All broadcasts also will be available through the official Notre Dame website (www.und.com).

WHLY will carry live broadcasts of the remainder of the Notre Dame hockey season, with the exception of the Feb. 23-24 series at Alaska Fairbanks. The next three Irish hockey games-including Oct. 14 versus Nebraska Omaha or Niagara and the Oct. 17 home opener versus Wayne State-also will be simulcast on WJVA 1580, which carried the bulk of the 1999-2000 seasons and last week’s opener versus Minnesota.

WHLY also will carry the entire 2000-01 Notre Dame women’s basketball season, with just one overlapping game time with the Irish hockey schedule (the Dec. 9 ND-Miami hockey game will be shifted to 1580 for a live broadcast while the ND-Purdue women’s basketball game that night will be aired live on 1620).

Any postseason overlaps with women’s basketball will result in the hockey broadcasts being moved to 1620. Potential overlaps include the March 3 Western Michigan game, the March 16-17 CCHA semifinals and final, and the March 23-25 NCAA Regionals.
