Notre Dame and Lake Superior State meet in Game 1 of the CCHA Quarterfinals at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, March 11 at the Joyce Center. The series is best-of-three with the winner advancing to Detroit, Mich., and the CCHA finals next weekend at Joe Louis Arena. The Irish are coming off a first round bye while the Lakers from the opening round by defeating Ohio State, 4-0 and 3-2, to win that opening round series in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., last weekend. Notre Dame enters the series ranked eighth in the nation with a 21-10-5 overall record and the Irish finished second in the CCHA with an 18-7-3-2 mark. Lake Superior was eighth in the regular season, going 12-15-9 overall with an 8-12-8-5 mark in conference play. The two teams met in the first week of the CCHA schedule on Oct. 14-15 at the Joyce Center with Notre Dame winning both games, 4-2. The Irish and Lakers have met just once in the CCHA post season. That came in the semifinals of the 2006-07 CCHA finals with Notre Dame taking a 3-0 victory on the way to their first CCHA championship.
