NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame senior defenseman Matt Hellickson has been selected as one of ten finalists for the Senior CLASS Award for hockey (March 3).
The 10 finalists will be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.

As a senior, Hellickson has served as an alternate captain and skated in all 26 games, scoring a goal and adding four assists for five points. He has played in all 143 Notre Dame games since arriving on campus, totaling 13 goals and 36 assists for 39 points.

The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Notre Dame’s previous winners of the Senior CLASS Award include current Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans (2017-18) and former goaltender David Brown (2006-07). Last season Cal Burke and Cale Morris were both among the 10 finalists for the award.
Next Up
- The Irish are slated to close out the regular season at home this weekend against Penn State (March 5-6).
- Game one (7:45 p.m.) will be televised on NBCSN, while game two (5:30 p.m.) is slated for RSN distribution including SNY, NBC Sports Boston, NBC Sports Chicago, NBC Sports Philadelphia and NBC Sports Washington.
- Saturday’s game will include a post-game ceremony to honor the team’s graduating senior class of Pierce Crawford, Matt Hellickson, Dylan St. Cyr, Nick Sanford, Matt Steeves and Colin Theisen.
