Harrison Shipp Named First Team Academic All-District

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Junior forward Harrison Shipp has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District V First Team for men’s soccer. The teams were announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Shipp (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) is one of 11 student-athletes voted to the all-district V squad. First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The junior forward has played in every match this season and has tallied 14 points on five goals and four assists. He notched his first career hat trick in a 6-1 win at Seton Hall on Oct. 13. Shipp has 32 career points on 10 goals and 12 assists. Shipp has played in 55 career games with the Irish.

Shipp boasts a 3.846 cumulative grade-point average as a finance major in Notre Dame’s nationally-ranked Mendoza College of Business. He is a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and received the 2011-12 Rockne Student-Athlete Award, which goes to the top student on the Fighting Irish squad. He also was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester.

The fifth-ranked Fighting Irish (13-3-1) will face Syracuse (12-5-0) Saturday in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship. The match is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) at the SU Soccer Stadium in Syracuse, N.Y.
