Notre Dame, Ind – Three time monogram winner Adrian Dantley was honored at a halftime ceremony during Monday March 2 Notre Dame-Villanova game. Dantley, who played for the Irish from 1973-76, was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2008.

During the ceremony, a video tribute was played to honor Dantley’s three-year career with the Irish and his 16 seasons in the NBA. Following the video, Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick and Assistant Athletics Director Jim Fraleigh presented Dantley with a photo collage paying homage to his illustrious basketball career.

Prior to the halftime ceremony, a reception was held for Dantley in the Monogram Room. In attendance were his family, former teammates and members of the Notre Dame Athletics Department.

Dantley arrived on campus the night prior to the game. When he saw the golden dome atop the Main Building it brought back fond memories of his time on campus.

He said, “I remember when I was on my recruiting trip here. The first time I saw the golden dome, I knew then that I wanted to come here. Recruiting me to play here was not very difficult to do. I knew all the history of Notre Dame from watching them on TV when I was younger, so from a young age I really liked Notre Dame. It has been a while since I have been back, but I can tell you it is good to be back here.”
