NOTRE DAME, Ind. – After a career weekend saw Notre Dame men’s tennis senior Josh Hagar record a pair of top-three wins to close out the regular season, the Atlantic Coast Conference recognized the performance by naming Hagar the final ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for 2017.

Hagar was dominant for the Irish over the weekend. On Friday, the senior helped lead the team to a win over conference foe Clemson with a straight-set win over singles opponent Alex Favrot. Then on Sunday, he provided a bright spot for Notre Dame, picking up the best wins of his career in both singles and doubles. He and partner Eddy Covalschi, together ranked No. 37 in doubles, upended the nation’s No. 1 doubles team, Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim of Wake Forest, 7-5. Then the 67th-ranked Hagar handled third-ranked Petros Chrysocos 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.

It’s the second player of the week nod for Hagar this season.

Hagar and the Irish will return to the court at 10 a.m. ET Thursday in the second round of the ACC Championship at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia. The 10th-seeded Irish will face off with No. 7 Louisville.
