NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For his efforts helping lead the University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team to victory over No. 13 Northwestern on Friday, senior Josh Hagar has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week.

With wins at both singles and doubles Friday, Hagar anchored the 4-1 Irish victory over the Wildcats. Hagar combined with senior Eddy Covalschi – together ranked sixth nationally – for a 6-3 win over Konrad Zieba and Sam Shropshire to clinch the doubles point for Notre Dame, and went on to get clincher in singles, coming back to defeat No. 28 Strong Kirchheimer at the top spot, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

It is the first ACC weekly honor of Hagar’s career. The Austin, Texas, product was named to the All-ACC Third Team in 2016. He owns a 14-7 overall record in singles (5-3 in duals) and a 17-4 mark in doubles with Covalschi (7-1 in duals) this season.

Hagar and the Irish will return to the court Friday when they head east to face No. 2 Ohio State at 6 p.m. ET Friday at OSU’s Varsity Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.
