ATLANTA, Ga. — The University of Notre Dame swimming and diving teams had a number of strong performances on the second day of the ACC Championships in Atlanta. The best performer of the day was freshman Chris Guiliano, who broke the program record in the 50 freestyle twice during the course of the day. After the second day of competition, the women are in seventh with 176 points and the men are 10th with 84 points.

In the prelim session of the 50 free, Guiliano qualified for the finals with a time of 19.28, good for an NCAA B Cut. It broke the previous record of 19.30 that was set by Justin Plaschka back in 2018. In the evening finals, Guiliano broke his record in the opening leg of the 200 freestyle relay. Guiliano ripped off a 19.17 in the opening leg to set the new program record. Guiliano, Cason Wilburn, Stephan Lukashev and Josh Bottelberghe finished in sixth with an NCAA A cut time of 1:16.98 and was 0.1 second away from tying the school record in the 200 freestyle relay.
