Final Stats

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore forward Amanda Guertin continued her recent scoring streak by notching two goals as the eighth-ranked Notre Dame women’s soccer team posted a 2-0 win at Yale in the final regular-season road game for the Irish.

Notre Dame (12-2-1)-which dropped a 3-1 game at BIG EAST rival Connecticut on Sunday-has not lost consecutive games since Sept. 28, 1992. The Irish dominated in shots (26-4, including 18-2 in shots on goal) while attempting nine corner kicks to Yale’s one.

Guertin-who has goals in four straight games and points in nine of the last 11-opened the scoring midway through the first half, after her classmate Melissa Tancredi played the ball down the right side. Guertin ran onto the ball down and struck a tough crossing shot from outside the box, cutting the ball back and into the far left side of the net for her seventh goal of the season (21:26).

Early in the second half, senior defender Lindsey Jones played the ball to Guertin outside the top left corner of the box. Guertin turned and quickly struck another crossing shot, sending the ball into the right side of the net for her team-leading eighth goal of the season and the 19th of her young Notre Dame career (55:48).

Notre Dame owned a 14-2 shot edge in the first half and still has allowed just four first-half goals this season (none in the last four games).

Senior Liz Wagner posted the ninth solo shutout of her Irish career while making two saves-including a tough first-half stop on Chandra King, who broke free into the center of the box but was thwarted by the charging Wagner.

The Irish conclude the regular season at home versus 24th-ranked Michigan, on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 1:00 p.m.
