Guertin, Irish Keep Rolling With 3-1 Win Over Purdue

Nov. 17, 2002

Amanda Guertin completed her nine-point weekend with two goals and her eighth corner-kick assist of the season as the 19th-ranked Notre Dame women’s soccer team advanced to the third round (final 16) of the NCAA tournament with Sunday’s 3-1 win over #14 Purdue (the next Irish opponent is still to-be-determined). Junior defender Melissa Tancredi and senior midfielder Ashley Dryer – who both did not play in a 3-1 loss to the Boilermakers earlier this season – played key roles in the win, with Tancredi (pictured) shutting down top scoring threat Annette Kent and capping the scoring with her fourth corner-kick header goal of the season.
