PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – University of Notre Dame women’s tennis doubles duo Quinn Gleason and Monica Robinson rebounded from Thursday’s first-round upset in the main draw of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships to take down the nation’s 11th-ranked team in consolation play Friday.
With a first-round by in the consolation bracket, 10th-ranked Gleason and Robinson faced Arkansas’ Yuliya Lysa and Shannon Hudson in the consolation quarterfinal at the Riviera Tennis Club. The Irish tandem defeated the Razorback duo 8-5, and will move on to play Nevada’s No. 27 Sheila Morales-Hidalgo and Blaga Delic on Saturday.
The Irish will return action in two weeks at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Michigan at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor. The event will run October 22-27 and serve as qualifying for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in mid-November at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
