NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Coming off a thrilling overtime victory over No. 2 Maryland, Notre Dame senior attackman Brendan Gleason earned ACC Player of the Week status on Monday afternoon for his performance in the win.
Gleason scored a season-high four goals and dished out an assist in the win over the Terrapins. The four goals were the most by an Irish player in Sunday’s game and his five points were tied for the most with teammate Brian Willetts (3G, 2A). Gleason also added a caused turnover and three ground balls to complete his impressive showing.
The accolade is the first weekly honor the Irish have earned this season from the ACC.
Gleason, recently placed on The Tewaaraton Award Watch List, has proved worthy of his status early this season. The attackman paces the Irish in points with 10 and is tied for the team lead in goals with eight.
Gleason and the Irish hit the road for a week-long spring break trip, beginning with a matchup against No. 8/8 Denver in Costa Mesa, California, as the feature event of the Pacific Coast Shootout. The game is set to start at 10 p.m. ET on March 9.
