Gillilan Named ACC Swimmer of the Week

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — Notre Dame sophomore Coleen Gillilan was named ACC Swimmer of the Week Tuesday for the second time this season following her dominant performance in the win vs. No. RV Akron. The honor marks the fifth in Gillilan’s career after having earned the recognition three times in the 2019-20 season.

Gillilan turned in a stellar weekend for the Irish, winning all eight events in which she competed, and posting B-Cut times in each of her four individual races, as part of the championship-format Shamrock Invitational. She broke her own pool record in the 200 Fly with a 1:55.37. A member of four relays, which all took first, she proved to be the difference in the meet-opening 200 Free Relay with a come-from-behind anchor leg to win.

In all, Gillilan swam as part of four relays: 200 Free Relay (1:30.78 – first), 400 Medley Relay (3:35.90 – first), 200 Medley Relay (1:39.27 – first) and 400 Free Relay (3:19.51).

In her individual events, the sophomore noted NCAA B-Cut times in all: 200 IM (1:57.46 – first), 100 Fly (52.47 – first), 100 Breast (1:01.40 – first) and 200 Fly (1:55.37 – first, pool record).

Gillilan and the Irish will take the pool this weekend as they travel to face West Virginia in a dual meet.
