Nose Guard Tyler Stockton

Sophomore nose tackle Tyler Stockton has steadily continued to improve each week and has added good depth to the defensive front line rotation. A native of Linwood, N.J., he is a backup to Ian Williams and Sean Cwynar on the interior of the defensive front. Stockton has registered five tackles to-date on the season including a sack. GameDay’s Tom McGuire gives Irish fans a chance to get to know Tyler Stockton.

McGuire: What is your major, and why does it interest you?
Stockton: My major is marketing; it’s an area if of interest because that is what my father does within his company. Seeing him doing it got me interested as well.

McGuire: What is your favorite place on campus?
Stockton: My favorite place is Reckers; I like to eat.

McGuire: What is your earliest football memory?
Stockton: It is probably just playing with my friends back home in Lynnwood. I was always the lineman, even back then.

McGuire: What is your favorite Coach Kelly quote?
Stockton: “Are you kidding me?”

McGuire: Who was your favorite Irish football player growing up?
Stockton: I would say Trevor Laws.

McGuire: If you were a candy, what would you be and why?
Stockton: I’d be Candy Corn; the god of candies.

McGuire: What song always gets you ready to take the field?
Stockton: “Brighter Day” by Kirk Franklin.

McGuire: What TV show do you never miss?
Stockton: I always watch SportsCenter.

McGuire: When you were younger, what were you always getting in trouble for?
Stockton: I would get in trouble for talking too much.

McGuire: What do you miss the most about home?
Stockton: I miss my mother and her food.

McGuire: North or South Dining Hall?
Stockton: South Dining Hall; it’s closer and it’s easier to walk to after practice.

McGuire: If you weren’t playing football, what sport would you be playing?
Stockton: I’d play golf. I’m actually a decent golfer for my size.

McGuire: What was your best Halloween costume growing up?
Stockton: I was Eric Cartman from the TV show South Park a lot when I was younger.

McGuire: Do you have any fears people don’t know about?
Stockton: No. I’m not afraid of anything.

McGuire: Who is the biggest joker on the team?
Stockton: It’s definitely Jonas Gray.

McGuire: If you could have any job, what would it be?
Stockton: I would want to somehow get paid millions of dollars a day to play video games.

McGuire: If you could take three things with you to a deserted island, what would you take?
Stockton: Coach Longo so I could get some workouts in, some protein shakes, and a Blackberry with Internet.

McGuire: What is your favorite thing about the team?
Stockton: The camaraderie. Everyone on the team bonds really well; it shows that we really have a great team here.
