Sophomore linebacker Dan Fox will look to establish himself on the special teams units and earn playing time with the linebacking corps during his second season with the Irish. After not playing in his freshman season, Fox opened up the campaign in the season opener against Purdue seeing action on both the kickoff and punt coverage units for the Irish. GameDay’s Kevin Paczesny gives Irish fans a chance to get to know Dan Fox.

PACZESNY: What is your major and why does it interest you?
FOX: I am a business major because I feel that I can really apply that when I get out into the world.

PACZESNY: What is your favorite place on campus?
FOX: I guess I’d have to say my dorm room.

PACZESNY: What is your favorite Coach Kelly saying?
FOX: “That’s why we are called the Fighting Irish because we are going to always be fighting.”

PACZESNY: What song always gets you ready to take the field?
FOX: It would probably have to be Bite to Break Skin by Senses Fail.

PACZESNY: What TV show do you never miss?
FOX: I will always make sure I see Dexter.

PACZESNY: If you had your own energy drink, what would it be called?
FOX: “The Mike Fox,” in recognition of my dad.

PACZESNY: What do you miss about being home?
FOX: I mainly miss just being home with my family and spending time with them.

PACZESNY: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play you in the lead role?
FOX: The late Heath Ledger.

PACZESNY: If you were not playing football, what sport would you be playing?
FOX: I would probably try and run hurdles for the track team.

PACZESNY: If you could have any superpower, what would you want?
FOX: I would probably want to be super fast because speed kills.

PACZESNY: Who has been most influential on your life and why?
FOX: I would say my mom because she has molded me into the person I am today and taught me all of my values and morals.

PACZESNY: What song/genre on your iPod would surprise people?
FOX: I would probably say classical music; it is something I listen to sometimes.

PACZESNY: If you could take three things with you on a deserted island, what would you take?
FOX: I would bring a lighter, a blow-up mattress, and a friend.

PACZESNY: Do you have any pregame rituals?
FOX: Not really I just listen to my music before every game.

PACZESNY: If Coach Kelly was not coaching, what would he be doing for a living?
FOX: I would say an officer in the military.

PACZESNY: What is your favorite video game of all-time?
FOX: My favorite game is Halo 3.

PACZESNY: What was your best Halloween costume growing up?
FOX: When I was a pumpkin; I was really short.

PACZESNY: What was the one thing that sold you on Notre Dame?
FOX: The academics and the atmosphere when I got here sold me. I grew up knowing about Notre Dame being from Cleveland so it is pretty close and it is kind of a big deal there.

PACZESNY: Who is the best joker on the team?
FOX: The best joker would be me.

PACZESNY: Which dining hall is better, North or South?
FOX: South is better for sure. I like the omelets better but I do like North’s burgers. I always choose to go to South.

PACZESNY: If you could have any job, outside of the NFL what would it be?
FOX: I would maybe like to be a stockbroker because I think I would like working in the stock market.

PACZESNY: Who is your favorite professor on campus and what class do they teach?
FOX: I would say Professor O’Brien who teaches Business Law.

PACZESNY: What is your earliest football memory?
FOX: Just being in grade school and remembering the first time I got hit and realizing how painful it was. Then I learned you have to deliver the hits instead of taking them.
