Getting to Know … Offensive Tackle Zack Martin No. 70 * 6-4 * 290 * So. – Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard

Sophomore offensive tackle Zack Martin will look to become a major contributor in his second full season with the Irish. The former offensive lineman from Bishop Chatard in Indianapolis, Ind., is battling to earn a full time spot at either of the recently vacated tackle spots with the graduation of both Paul Duncan and Sam Young. GameDay’s Aaron Horvath gives Irish fans a chance to get to know Zack Martin.

Horvath: What is your major and why does it interest you?
Martin: I am a business major in the Mendoza College of Business. The business school was just ranked #1 in the country so I’m really excited about that.

Horvath: What is your favorite place on campus?
Martin: The South Quad is my favorite place on campus.

Horvath: What is your favorite nickname for a teammate?
Martin: “Slop” for Dan Fox

Horvath: What is the toughest stadium to play in?
Martin: We played at Michigan; that was a pretty tough one.

Horvath: What is a TV show you never miss?
Martin: Hard Knocks.

Horvath: If you could have an energy drink named after you what would it be called?
Martin: I would call it “Speed.”

Horvath: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play you in the lead role?
Martin: George Clooney.

Horvath: If you could have any superpower, what would you want to be able to do?
Martin: I would want to fly.

Horvath: What song on your iPod would surprise people?
Martin: I actually do not have an ipod.

Horvath: If you could take three things with you on a deserted island, what would you take?
Martin: I would take my phone, a television and a knife.

Horvath: Where would you go in history if you had a time machine?
Martin: I would go back to just after the Civil War; The Old West.

Horvath: If you could trade places with any person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. Who would it be?
Martin: Mark Wahlberg from Entourage.

Horvath: What was your best Halloween costume growing up?
Martin: I was Fred Flintstone…last year.

Horvath: Do you have any fears that people don’t know?
Martin: I’m afraid of heights.

Horvath: If Coach Kelly wasn’t coaching, what would he be doing for a living?
Martin: He would be a Governor or a spokesperson.

Horvath: Who is the best prankster on the team and what was the best prank they pulled?
Martin: Dan Fox; he is just goofy all the time.

Horvath: If you could have any job, what would it be?
Martin: I would be an agent.

Horvath: What was the one thing that sold you on Notre Dame?
Martin: The people here is what really made me realize that this place was special.

Horvath: Who is your favorite professor on campus and what class does he/she teach?
Martin: Professor O’Brien who teaches Business Law.

Horvath: What is one thing you want to happen before you leave Notre Dame?
Martin: Win a National Championship.

Horvath: What do you miss most about home?
Martin: I miss my family the most.

Horvath: Who has been most influential on your life and why?
Martin: I would have to say my Dad because he helped me get through everything in my life.
